A message from NPM
Hi
It has been a busy autumn with new CD which was received well by the press....in most places, and I also did a soundtrack for a French movie called EDY. We’ve played concerts in Turkey, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary, and we start the French tour on the 9th of December. So…not much spare time, but it has been very nice, with great audiences and the new songs works really well.
We are open to expand this site a bit, and if there is anything that any of you are missing here, please let me know. I’m grateful for any input. Good or bad.
About plans for next year, we will keep you updated as soon as things are confirmed. I guess I’m not a typical "blogger", but if there are any questions, or whatever you might feel an urge to express.. please do so, and I will reply as soon as there is time. Meanwhile, I hope the French concerts will be "outstanding", and that we will give whoever is there a nice time.
All the best
Nils Petter Molvaer

Torture a confession out of the DJ. He knows more than he admits!

Thanks for the news Nils ! I've just seen you in Lille @ Aeronef (France) and just like four years ago I was blown away - please come more often !
So here's an idea to expand the site - make soundboard gig recordings available on the site. A lot of artists are developping this; it allows an audience to buy an official bootleg of the night they remember, and it's great for those who couldn't be there. Personnally I'd love to be able to buy gigs with different tracklists than the one I heard. And I'm sure a lot of other people would like that too.
Have a happy christmas !

Straight home from the concert in Lyon and I too was blown away. A really swell show and a very good opportunity to discover the freedom of your latest album.
I must admit the interweaving of trumpet, sound bites and layers is hypnotising, while the combination of drums and DJing pulls one's "swings"...
Thank you very much for tonight!
Thank you nils for the amazing concert you gave for the Lille's audience. Ok... the sound ingeneer had certainly abused of french wine (or maybe belgian beer) but as it already was the case when you and the band came 4 years ago, the gig put me and my girlfriend right on our respective asses!
Thanks again...and please come back!
Just a quick note that the link to part 3 of the NPM interview is bringing up part 2 again...thanks.
TC in Oregon....
It wa a great pleasure to hear you in Strasbourg...Well, to be honnest I was one of the youngest person there but I was so proud to live such a concert.
this has nothing to do with the post, but
wow! i just discovered your music and i'm liking it and now i'm really excited and stuff and i wanted to express my happiness. so here it is :)
please come play in the netherlands someday, grr!
I have become one more, among your, "victims". I like this kind of jazz so much, I can't hear anything else. I just wanted you to know, that you can talk to our souls!
Any plans of giving a concert in Greece maybe?
Christina
Hei Nils Petter!
Fins det planer om å spille i London i nærmeste framtid?
It's had been a while, but i saw your last concert in Amsterdam. The experience was amazing. After 2 hours it was over, but it felt like it only had been 30 minutes from the start. That had never happened to me before, to me it only shows how lost i was in the music.
Most music you listen to, but there are few artists who can make you experience it.
Thanks for the experience!

Hi, Nils, maybe you will remember me, i was playing just before you, with my band "Elvire" the 31 march, in France. It was a strange date, not so much people… but i was really happy to meet you. I gived you a record, and maybe if you have time, i will be really happy to have somes comments of you.
So i hwish you all the best with your new records, and thanks for your attention.
Dear Nils,
We were at your Vancouver concert on July 1, 2006 and were blown away by your music.
We are truly regretting the noise made by the audience during your show. It was very difficult to hear the music, and I am sure it was almost impossilbe for your band to hear one another over the rude and perpetuous din of conversation from the audience. The festival did not pick the best venue for you, nor did they have an appropriate opening act...people had no idea about the kind of world class musicianship and subtlety of sounds they were privileged to witness.
But there were fans like ouselves who hung onto every note, transfixed by the gradual development of textures and grooves, haunted by the ancient cries of your trumpet, mesmerized by the rhythmic and spacious atmosphere of each piece.
Your concert was truly a rare event, combining well worn acoustic instruments with high technology. We had no idea how would the music we love so dearly from Solid Ether be interpreted live! Of course we are now enjoying ER and other albums as well as we paint....your music is full of poetry and sorrow, resonating through the ages, bridging ancient culture with contemporary urban soundscapes. How can one describe music? If one could why would one play! We simply love what you are doing, it is inspiring and beautiful, always full of new discoveries, moods and nuances.
Please do not be disheartened by the rude audience in Vancouver. We very much hope to see you around again. The concert was such high caliber...all of the musicians, particularly your drummer, gave incredible performances, creating magical passages, taking the audience to another place and time.
As I stood there watching/listening, I felt sadness knowing the music would end.
Thank you for your art, for your music, for making life so much richer...
Jennifer
jag utten sprichen norsk.
jaja, how about that. well, i post this comment from méxico df (mexico city for foreigners). i'm in the process of joining an enterprise which books shows here with musicians. hopefully a chance will come for you to come over.
i've only listened to your music through scandinavian music/jazz compilations and internet mp3's so it'd may be a good idea to have your cd's sold here.
warm regards and the best of luck.

Dear Mister Molvaer, if that is your last name, I take this opportunity to post you a message that I think "ER" is one of the VERY most beautiful pieces of music I have EVER heard! With headphones on every time I listen to them takes me on a journey through ... myself I guess. It's so full of layers and layers of feelings I find it overwhelmingly magnificent and I get true gosebumps and sometimes even tears. I practise music myself as a multi-instrumentalist, nowadays using Reason as my tool, and I really wonder how you can make this bliss. Can you please unravel some of the techniques you use to build up your rhythms so full of detail? I would happily send you some of my 'essays' although I am not much of a composer. Sounds good, rhythms nice, but no songs I am afraid...

Hi there,
somebody asked this question before, but I'm gonna ask again - any chance you will be playing in London any time soon? I have all your albums except for remixes and the latest and I love them. Can't wait to listen to ER and to see you live in London - we're ready for you here, man, so dont make us wait;)
best regards
tom
